Materials: Waldorf-inspired figures are handcrafted in Europe (Romania) from sustainably-harvested (PEFC-certified) maple and beech wood. HOLZTIGER wooden figures conform with the European Directives for Toys (DIN EN 71). The non-toxic paints and varnishes are furthermore subject to constant quality controls by the state supervisory authorities.

Over and above this, HOLZTIGER makes additional voluntary commitments to quality and safety. For example, every wooden figure has an additional topcoat of satin-finish water paint to make it resistant to perspiration and saliva. A HOLZTIGER whale will even “survive” a short swim in the bathtub without its colours fading!

Holztiger: The forms and decoration are deliberately simplified to better stimulate children's imaginations. After each figure is carefully cut and sanded by hand, it is coloured with water-based, non-toxic stains and finishes that allow the beauty of the wood grain to show through.
